On 7 30, the Digital Economy and Green Development Cooperation Forum was successfully held in Beijing. Over 300 representatives from government agencies, research institutions, tech companies, and international organizations gathered to explore pathways and opportunities for leveraging digital technologies to accelerate green and low-carbon transformation. Anchored in the core philosophy of "Digital Intelligence-Driven, Green Symbiosis," the forum established three priority collaboration directions: technological innovation, industrial synergy, and standards co-construction, charting a clear roadmap for comprehensive green transformation across society and the economy.
This collaboration framework combines technical depth with broad industry coverage, focusing on three key areas: digital energy efficiency, smart energy, and digital carbon management. It spans typical application scenarios such as green retrofitting of data centers, industrial internet energy efficiency improvement, intelligent new energy scheduling, and full-chain carbon footprint tracking. The framework embodies the deep integration of technology and industry, conveying the vision of "driving green development through digitalization and enhancing efficiency through sustainability." It symbolizes shared destiny among all stakeholders working together to build a new pattern of coordinated digital-green development.
Since the cooperation initiative was proposed in 2025, comprehensive preparation work has proceeded smoothly. In 5 of 2026, the inaugural working group meeting was successfully held in Hangzhou, attended by nearly 100 technical and policy experts from all participating parties. Prior to the forum, nearly 15 sector-specific workshops covered diverse topics including algorithmic energy efficiency, green power trading, and mutual recognition of carbon data. At the opening ceremony, the organizers emphasized that the "Digital Economy and Green Development Cooperation Initiative" would serve as the core deliverable. Focusing on three pillars—technological innovation, industrial collaboration, and standard co-construction—we will implement three concrete pathways: joint R&D on green computing power, smart energy demonstration projects, and mutual recognition of carbon measurement standards. These efforts align with the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and China's "Dual Carbon" strategy, advancing digital-green cooperation from shared concepts to practical implementation.
Choosing to deepen cooperation at this node carries both contemporary and practical significance. As a leading global economy in digital scale and a steadfast driver of green transition, China boasts rich technology application scenarios and a complete new energy industry chain. This enables us to fully unlock the synergistic benefits of digital-green integration, offering a real-world model for global low-carbon transformation. Currently, all participating parties are advancing project alignment, joint R&D, and pilot park construction, building a multi-level platform for industry-academia-research-application collaboration to welcome global partners in shaping the future of green digital development.
Amid intensifying global climate challenges, growing energy security pressures and the urgent need for industrial transformation, digital technologies—now a core driver of green and low-carbon transition—make deep cross-sector collaboration critically important. This partnership will establish an equitable, consultative platform for mutual benefit, uniting stakeholders in shared consensus and coordinated action. We will deepen cooperation on key priorities including green computing power, digital energy systems, and carbon data governance. Through pragmatic initiatives, we will unlock green innovation momentum and jointly build an open, innovative, inclusive, and shared digital-green ecosystem to deliver sustained collaborative strength for global sustainable development and climate governance.
